Uzaib Saya is a health systems strengthening specialist for the African Strategies for Health (ASH) Project. He has six years of experience supporting projects pertaining to health financing and health systems strengthening in US and international settings. Prior to joining ASH, he served as the senior technical officer for the Health Care Financing Unit at MSH. Uzaib’s academic and professional background lies in public health financing with a focus on applications of data to health policy in low-income countries. Within health financing, Uzaib has worked in various areas, including health service costing and modeling, impact evaluation, innovative financing, and planning and budgeting for health services. He has worked on projects for international development partners and donors in Bangladesh, Malawi, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, and Switzerland. Uzaib grew up in Karachi, Pakistan, and is a native Urdu speaker. He holds a master’s degree in health policy and management from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
