Senior Principal Advisor

Ritu Kumar is the practice area lead for MSH's work on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and Market Dynamics. She provides technical expertise to various projects on establishing systematic priority setting and health technology assessment mechanisms, scaling up access to new health technologies, medicines pricing, and strategic purchasing approaches. She has more than 14 years of experience in health systems strengthening, including market shaping and access to medicines in South and Southeast Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to joining MSH, Kumar was a Senior Program Officer at PATH, where she led the Access and Delivery Partnership Project to support capacity building on priority setting, market-based approaches, supply chain, and access to new health technologies in Africa and Asia. Prior to joining PATH, she served as the Deputy Country Director for the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) in Zambia, where she managed CHAI’s sustainable health financing portfolio of programs and provided technical assistance to the Government of Zambia’s universal health coverage efforts. Before moving to Zambia, Kumar led CHAI's pediatric HIV and AIDS medicines access program in India. Before transitioning to global health, she worked in the private sector as a consultant and market researcher. Kumar holds a degree in chemical engineering, an MBA, and an MPA.
