    Helena Hailu Fantaye

    Human Resources for Health and Emergency Management Advisor

    Helena Hailu Fantaye, MD, MPH, a human resources for health and emergency management advisor for the USAID-funded Health Workforce Improvement Program (HWIP), has more than seven years of experience in public health. Dr. Fantaye previously worked with Federal Ministry of Health in Ethiopia, as a national program coordinator for health and nutrition emergencies, as well as serving as Director of Emergency and Critical Care and Director General of the National Blood Transfusion Service, among other senior leadership positions. She holds a Doctorate of Medicine from University of Gondar, Ethiopia; a Master of Science degree in Public Health/International Health from the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium; and is a Mandela Washington Fellow, University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. Fantaye speaks fluent Amharic and English.
