Sarah Konopka

Principal Technical Advisor, HIV and AIDS

Sarah Konopka serves as Principal Technical Advisor for HIV and AIDS. She has more than 10 years of experience in program design and implementation, research, and policy analysis in HIV and integrated health programs. Prior to joining the African Strategies for Health (ASH) project in 2012, Konopka worked with the International HIV/AIDS Alliance where she supported Asia- and Eastern Europe-based civil society organizations to manage and implement HIV-related projects. She conducted research with key populations, provided technical assistance to partner organizations and networks, and co-authored advocacy papers, technical reports, and quality-programming guidelines. Before joining the Alliance, Konopka managed the microfinance and HIV and AIDS programs at a nongovernmental organization in Morogoro, Tanzania. She also served as an HIV and AIDS and Community Health Peace Corps volunteer in Tanzania, where she designed and managed community-based HIV prevention projects. She holds a master’s degree in international development from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex, UK.
