MSH Announces New Director of Office of Business and Resource Development
CAMBRIDGE, MA (SEPTEMBER 6, 2007)—Management Sciences for Health (MSH) has named Lonna T. Milburn as its new Director of the Office of Business and Resource Development. Dr. Milburn brings 20 years of experience in international health consultancy and business development experience from her work with USAID, DFID, AusAID, World Bank, WHO, GAVI, Global Fund, Gates Foundation, and other private-sector donors to her new position at MSH.
Dr. Milburn comes to MSH from Abt Associates, Inc., in Bethesda, Maryland, where she served as Business Development Manager for the International Health Division. Her prior work in international development includes long-term postings and management for USAID-funded projects in Jordan, working with the Ministry of Health on health systems strengthening initiatives; Russia, directing the Siberian portion of a Russian health reform project; and Turkmenistan, directing a partnership between the Government of Turkmenistan and the State of North Dakota to establish the National Family Medicine Training Center. She has provided technical assistance in the area of health systems strengthening for projects in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Central Asia. Dr. Milburn also has been employed by the American International Health Alliance in Washington, DC, and she has served as the Interim Director for the Adventist Health Center in Moscow, Russia.
Dr. Milburn received a BS in Nursing from Walla Walla College in College Place, Washington, and an MS in Nursing/Education from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. She also received a PhD in Administration/ Health Policy from The University of Texas-Austin and completed postdoctoral studies in Health Policy with Wilbur J. Cohen, at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. She presently serves on the faculty of George Washington University.
