MSH’s Dr. Héctor Castro Appointed as Latin America Policy Forum Chair for Health Technology Assessment international

MSH applauds the appointment of Dr. Héctor Castro as the Latin America Policy Forum Chair for Health Technology Assessment international (HTAi), a global nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering health technology assessments. Dr. Castro is MSH’s Global Lead of Health Financing, Technologies, Data, and Impact and has also served as a Board Director with HTAi from 2018 to 2020. With over 20 years of professional experience, Dr. Castro has served as chief officer; technical advisor; director; and manager in strategic planning, quality assurance, health, safety, and environment for pharmaceutical and health insurance and nongovernmental organizations. Dr. Castro’s work focuses on health systems strengthening in the areas of quality assurance, assessment, strategic purchasing, and provision of health care technologies (including medicines, devices, and procedures). Dr. Castro is the former Chief Executive Director of the HTA Institute of Colombia (IETS) and Director of Medicines and Technologies at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Colombia. He will start his position in July, taking over from Dr. Laura Sampietro-Colom as Chair. Read HTAi’s announcement here.
