MSH Applauds John Kerry’s Confirmation as Secretary of State

Management Sciences for Health (MSH), a nonprofit global health organization based in Cambridge, Massachusetts and working in over 40 countries, congratulates Senator John Kerry on his Senate confirmation as secretary of state. We have appreciated Senator Kerry’s distinguished service on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and look forward to his continued foreign policy leadership in his new role at the U.S. Department of State.

The U.S. plays a critical role in global health. With the new Office of Global Health Diplomacy at the U.S. Department of State, we welcome U.S. diplomatic support that would reinforce USAID’s implementation of the Global Health Initiative. “We hope Senator Kerry will support this office as it uses diplomacy to advance the U.S.’s global health mission—improving and saving lives and fostering sustainability,” said Dr. Jonathan D. Quick, the President and CEO of MSH.

“MSH looks forward to working with Kerry to continue the Obama administration’s legacy of being a global partner in helping the world's most poor and vulnerable,” said Dr. Quick.

As her tenure comes to a close, MSH recognizes outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton for her strong leadership and commitment to women and girls, as well as her support of development as the third critical pillar of our foreign policy, alongside defense and diplomacy.
