Home: What MSH Does: Leadership & Management: Programs
The Center for Leadership and Management works with managers at all levels to develop high-performing health organizations and programs, and to improve the capabilities of managers to lead teams and achieve results. The Center also works with national programs to coordinate multisectoral strategies and develop overall human capacity. Innovative electronic technologies reinforce our direct technical assistance in leadership and management.
Global Programs:
The Leadership, Management and Sustainability (LMS) Program is a five-year program funded by the Office of Population and Reproductive Health of the U.S. Agency for International Development. Launched in August 2005, the LMS Program develops managers and leaders who achieve results in the areas of reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, infectious disease, and maternal and child health. LMS works with health organizations in the public and private sectors to create sustainable programs and systems through improved leadership and management. By strengthening management systems and increasing system-wide leadership, LMS improves the performance of health care organizations at all levels, develops human resources, and builds the capacity to anticipate and respond effectively to changing external environments.
The Capacity Project is an innovative global initiative funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The Capacity Project applies proven and promising approaches to improve the quality and use of priority health care services in developing countries by:
- Improving workforce planning and policy making
- Developing better education and training systems for the workforce
- Strengthening systems to support workforce performance.
Launched in October 2004, this five-year project is led by IntraHealth International, Inc., and draws on the extensive experience and expertise of MSH and several other global partners and numerous regional and local organizations. The Capacity Project works across health sectors and supports the objectives of USAID in the areas of population and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS and health, infectious diseases, and nutrition (including tuberculosis and maternal and child health).
