Xavier Alterescu was Deputy Director of the Leadership, Management, and Governance (LMG) Project, responsible for advocating for LMG goals at national and international levels and promoting the project’s models, tools, and approaches for capacity building, country ownership and sustainability. He has 21 years of experience implementing, developing, governing and managing public health teams, organizations and programs in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe and the USA and is an expert in leadership development, governance, organizational development; strategic planning, capacity-building, and training of trainers. Between 2008 and 2012 he served as the MSH Team Leader for the MEASURE Evaluation Project and acted as a key technical resource for other projects across MSH. Prior to that, he worked for 13 years in Brazil as a Program Director, his start in the international health sector since leaving France as a contract lawyer. He was the Country Representative for Pact in Brazil and in Thailand and the Chief of Party for the USAID-funded Community REACH programs in Brazil and the Greater Mekong Region. He is fluent in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish and likes to show off his rudiments of Thai and Russian.
