Dr. Pierre Dongier is an internationally recognized expert in public health, health systems, and institutional strengthening. With more than 25 years of experience, including work in Rwanda, Burkina Faso, and Côte d’Ivoire, Dr. Dongier is a seasoned health project manager and advisor. He has focused on health systems strengthening and health-sector development and reform, with an emphasis on primary health care and decentralization. His experience covers policy development, health service management, and planning and implementation of health programs at the national, intermediate, and operational levels and in the public and nongovernmental sectors. Well known in Rwanda, Dr. Dongier has a deep understanding of local structures and processes from his work for a number of agencies, including the Rwanda Biomedical Center/National AIDS Control Commission where he focused on civil society strengthening, decentralization, and HIV mainstreaming work in nonhealth sectors.
