Senior Technical Advisor, Human Resources for Health
Peter Mbago, a senior technical advisor for human resources for health (HRH), brings 13 years of experience to the Tanzania Technical Support Project (TSSP) through working with the Government of Tanzania, nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector in the areas of human resource policies, systems, strategies, and processes.
Prior to joining MSH, Peter served as a program manager for health workforce management at the Benjamin Mkapa HIV/AIDS Foundation where he oversaw human resources for health programs funded by USAID, the Global Fund, and Irish Aid. His key responsibilities included program management, HRH strategy development and review, coordination of capacity-building programs, and institutionalisation of performance management systems at local government authorities and health facilities. Previously, Peter worked for the University Research Company as a quality improvement advisor responsible for integration of quality improvement systems in HRH interventions funded through the USAID Health Care Improvement Project (HCI).
Throughout his career, Peter has consulted at the national and local government level in the areas of health systems, organisation development, leadership, business process analysis, and improvement and re-engineering.
Peter obtained Bachelor in Public Administration in 2002 and Master in Information Management in 2008 from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He speaks Swahili and English.
