Senior Technical Advisor
Kwabena Larbi is a malaria expert working as a senior technical advisor for the USAID/PMI-funded Leadership, Management, and Governance Project in Liberia. Initially trained as an environmental health professional, Kwabena has more than 20 years of experience in public health and malaria control. Kwabena recently provided technical and management support to Liberia’s national malaria control program to distribute more than 2.8 million mosquito nets during the Ebola outbreak.
Kwabena has worked with national malaria control programs in Sierra Leone, Kenya, Chad, South Sudan, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Ghana and Liberia. In the majority of these posts, he has provided long-term management and technical support to mobilize resources, and to implement and account for malaria control interventions. He worked closely with these programs to successfully apply for resources from the Global Fund, Department for International Development (DFID), European Union, USAID/PMI, and the private sector to implement evidence-based malaria control interventions. He holds a post-graduate diploma in health systems management and a master of public health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
