Principal Technical Advisor
Chinwe Owunna is the Systems for Improved Access to Pharmaceuticals and Services (SIAPS) Program Principal Technical Advisor for tuberculosis (TB). Ms. Owunna provides technical leadership, strategic vision, and direction in the design, implementation, and evaluation of SIAPS’ TB-related activities across more than 20 countries, and assures that initiatives align with international best practices and global development goals. Ms. Owunna also provides global technical leadership and leads SIAPS’ collaboration with global TB partners, including the World Health Organization, the Global Drug Facility, the Global Fund, the UNION, and the StopTB Partnership. With deep expertise in key aspects of pharmaceutical management and systems strengthening—including quantification, pharmaceutical system assessments, pharmacovigilance and patient safety, capacity building, and pharmaceutical management information systems—she manages a team of experts implementing lasting solutions to improve access to TB medicines. Ms. Owunna and team are currently supporting SIAPS countries in the rapid adoption and implementation of new TB medicines and novel regimens. Prior to this position, she served as a senior technical advisor for SIAPS, a country program manager for the SPS program, and also managed malaria activities in Ghana. She is a US-registered pharmacist, and holds a master’s degree in public health.
