Cherie Black is an experienced health communications professional and award-winning health journalist with extensive experience across a broad range of media and communications functions. She is an expert writer, editor and strategic communicator. Black was a longtime journalist covering health and medical issues at several newspapers across the U.S., and led communications teams at health care-focused public relations agencies in Nashville and Washington, D.C. She also worked in corporate communications at a cardiology organization, which included developing and managing leadership and CEO communications, and where she helped create and subsequently managed a national patient engagement initiative to help individuals prevent, treat and manage cardiovascular disease. She currently provides strategic communications planning for Management Sciences for Health’s infectious disease portfolio, as well as communications planning and implementation across other technical areas, as needed. Black holds a BA in broadcast journalism from Howard University in Washington, D.C., an MS in journalism from Columbia University in New York and an MPH Candidate at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
