Antimicrobial Resistance: an Online Course
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) occurs when disease-causing pathogens are able to withstand the killing or suppressing power of antimicrobial medicines. This phenomenon increases the global burden of infectious diseases and strains health systems.
Parts 1 and 2 of the online course are offered at the Global Health Learning Center.
This course aims to improve the learner's awareness and understanding of the basic principles of AMR, the impact AMR has on individuals and society, and why it is a major public health concern.
This course explains the major factors that contribute to the development and spread of AMR and the interventions available to address these factors. This course also discusses antimicrobials and vaccine development, the impact of globalization and societal shifts on AMR, and international strategies for containing AMR.
