Traditional leaders as change agents in reducing HIV related stigma and discrimination: lessons from Northern Nigeria
This poster was produced by MSH staff for the International AIDS Conference in Vienna, Austria in July 2010. Community mobilization through committed leadership has been identified as key to reducing stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS. Some traditional leaders have been very successful in building solidarity and mobilizing action through collaborative efforts. Using the TWG approach by ensuring key traditional leaders' participation has resulted in significant reduction in stigmatization, enhanced continuum of care and HIV service delivery at community level.
