Cost-effectiveness of static, outreach-based, and event-oriented HCT interventions for universal access to HIV & AIDS services in Eastern Uganda

This poster was produced by MSH staff for the International AIDS Conference in Vienna, Austria in July 2010. To address the low rate of HCT, Strengthening TB-HIV/AIDS Response in Eastern Uganda Project (STAR-E) attempted a variety of different approaches to delivery and promotion of universal access to HCT in Uganda. The three main models are: 1) facility based static HCT (FHCT), 2) outreach based HCT (OHCT) and 3) event oriented (world AIDS days, world TB day etc) HCT (EHCT). Routine weekly outreaches for HCT were found to be a more cost effective intervention for access of HCT particularly for resource limited settings with relatively low service coverage and high HIV prevalence.
