Conferences  

In collaboration with The World Health Organization and Stop TB Partners, SPS hosted the 1st African Regional Conference on TB Pharmaceutical Management focusing on Fighting Drug Resistant TB in the 21st Century: Novel Approaches to Pharmaceutical Management. The conference was held in Johannesburg, South Africa for three days from July 19-21, 2011. Over 100 participants attended from various African countries, several of which were from ministries of health, various health departments, NGOs and USAID.

The SPS Program participated in this year's FIP World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences which was held in Lisbon, Portugal from August 28 - September 2, 2010. Two presentations were made during an all day session on developing academic capacity while another presentation was made during another session on the topic of antimicrobial resistance.  Learn more >>


SPS sponsored a conference entitled, National Pharmacovigilance Systems: Ensuring the Safe Use of Medicines, in Nairobi, Kenya from Aug 16-18, 2010. The conference was designed to provide a framework for building, strengthening and optimizing medicines safety/pharmacovigilance systems, particularly at the country level. More than 100 participants representing ministries of health, drug regulatory authorities, universities, non-governmental organizations and donors from 30 different countries participated

  • Systems-oriented approach to medicines safety: mechanisms for collecting, interpreting, and using information
  • Pharmacovigilance examples from national, disease-focused and methodological models
