- To evaluate how well Ghana’s public and private health facilities manage antimalarials, including artemisinin-based combination therapies, SPS collected data through interviews; review of existing records, registers, and reports; and observations at 66 facilities in five regions. The assessment covered key pharmaceutical management issues such as pharmacy and dispensary unit staffing, product quantification, ordering, pricing, storage capacity, stock management, and pharmaceutical management information systems. How well do the Regional Medical Stores in Ghana Manage Antimalarials? Results of an Assessment - To evaluate how well Ghana’s 10 regional medical stores manage antimalarials, including artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs), the Strengthening Pharmaceutical Systems (SPS) Program collected data through interviews; review of existing records, registers, and reports; and observations. SPS assessed inventory management and warehouse requirements, including the infrastructure improvements needed to strengthen availability and minimize stock-outs, wastage, and leakage.
