What We Do

Laboratory

RPM Plus global initiatives drew on the close working relationships MSH has established with international leaders in health care.

RPM Plus worked to improve access to and use of essential medicines and health commodities in developing countries by coordinating efforts with other global initiatives, such as Integrated Management of Childhood Illness, Stop TB, and Roll Back Malaria, that target major health problems.

RPM Plus provided a systems approach to health commodity management that—

  • Supported applied and operational research

  • Provided technical leadership for developing, testing, and disseminating new tools

Strategies and Approaches

RPM Plus believed that essential medicines and other health commodities must be available and used correctly in order to meet global goals for improving public health. RPM Plus sought to improve public health goals within the USAID strategic framework that incorporates planning, implementation, and monitoring of health commodity management systems into population, health, and nutrition priority interventions.

Within its strategic framework, USAID had set forth strategic objectives (SOs) to highlight problem areas so that program activities will focused on identifying solutions through the development and delivery of sustainable interventions. The pharmaceutical management facets of four of the USAID strategic objectives follow.
