Rural clinic How does an organization get work done? Good management systems are vital. But organizational effectiveness also depends on the values and efforts of people, who are directed and energized by good leadership.

Health managers need to achieve results despite enormous challenges, constant change, and considerable uncertainty. Importantly, the skills we call leadership and management are not innate talents. They improve with learning and practice. And these skills and practices can be developed at every level in an organization.

M&L Approach

We work with teams, managers, and leaders in many settings - from senior ministry officials to village health workers. They could be public sector employees, staff from donor organizations, hospital workers, elected officials, community leaders, and NGO managers. All have a role in providing family planning and health services to women, children, and families.

Our approach is practical, with an emphasis on:

  • Key Principles
  • Results
  • Framework for Leading & Managing
  • Shared Knowledge
  • Scalable, replicable programs
  • Proven methods and tools

In some cases, our clients are responsible for building a new health infrastructure; we work with them to redefine roles and responsibilities for the new context. We also help organizations manage their funding. All the managers and leaders we work with face everyday dilemmas. Teams with low morale. The challenge of sustaining a program with limited resources. In every setting, we apply the M&L approach to help organizations identify their major challenges and develop practical action plans to overcome them.
