2009 Health Professional Fellowship Program

2009 PEPFAR Health Professional Fellowship Program

The US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) has provided funding to the Leadership, Management and Sustainability (LMS) program of Management Sciences for Health (MSH) and the Institute for Human Virology (IHV) to improve the skills and strengthen the management and leadership capacity of health care providers, Nigerian networks and direct-service organizations delivering HIV/AIDS services.

A key component of this effort is a Fellowship Program, which has been designed to build the capacity of the health professionals to effectively respond to the challenges they face managing HIV/AIDS services. The groups to participate in this cohort are nurses, Primary Healthcare Coordinators and Community Health Officers. The Fellowship Program has four main components: classroom component, practicum segment, community-based activities and mentoring support mechanism. The classroom component includes leadership and development program modules and HIV/AIDS curriculum.
