Improving Organizational Performance
PAI is a process by which district and NGO teams can assess their current service performance, plan interventions for dramatically improving performance, and monitor the resulting health and service trends over time, while learning how to better use their routine and survey data. Such team processes generally focus on priority health problems and related essential public health services and functions in support of national health policy and strategy.
How Is the Program Implemented?
The process, its guidelines, and facilitation are tailored for the national and local situation, policy, and priorities. Each application at the district or sub-district level requires at least two phases of three to four days each of team and facilitator involvement. National facilitation teams are prepared with technical assistance from MSH, along with actual examples of earlier applications.
PAI has been implemented by MSH in the Philippines, Indonesia, Afghanistan, East Timor, and is currently being applied in Pakistan and Burundi. All guideline versions of PAI exist as country-specific guideline documents in English and their native languages.
