Leadership Program Integrated into Medical School in Egypt
The Suez Canal University Faculty of Medicine has fully integrated elements from the Leadership Development Program (LDP) into their undergraduate medical curriculum. The school noted that the curricula of most health profession institutes concentrate on the professional aspects and ignore training students to be leaders who can optimize their work climates. Students are seeking this training as they feel it will optimize their ability to make full use of their professional knowledge and be fully effective health care providers. The goal of integrating leadership and management into this program is to improve the ability of the students to lead teams in order to overcome challenges and achieve better results in health in their future careers. For the same reasons, the school has incorporated a leadership course in the postgraduate programs of Health Professions Education, Family Medicine and Community Medicine.
