LMS/Afghanistan Distributes Highest Level of Pharmaceuticals for Any Quarter
Tech-Serve, the LMS Associate Award in Afghanistan, distributed US$785,000 in pharmaceuticals to NGOs, including more than $225,000 in contraceptives, from April to June 2008. The NGOs deliver services through 387 health facilities and 4,400 health posts covering a population of more than 7 million in 13 provinces.
Since the project began, Tech-Serve has distributed more than $8.5 million in essential medicines and contraceptives to the 13 provinces it serves. Tech-Serve's improved stock management system has reduced stock variance to less than .15% for 2008, and also minimized wastage due to drug expiration.
