MSH and USAID hosted the End-of-Project Conference for the Leadership, Management and Sustainability (LMS) Program at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, on May 17, 2010.
Over the past five years, this USAID-funded program has helped to develop leaders and managers who achieve results in the areas of family planning/reproductive health, HIV & AIDS, infectious disease, maternal and child health, and areas of health service delivery. LMS has worked with health organizations and institutions in the public and private sectors to build leadership and management practices, create better work climates, strengthen management systems, and better prepare staff at all levels to respond to change—all in an effort to enable these organizations and institutions to deliver quality services and contribute to improved health outcomes.
The Leadership, Management and Sustainability Program: Strengthening Health Systems, Achieving Public Health Results conference presented results of and lessons learned from LMS's work on improving health service delivery, mainstreaming and scaling up proven leadership and management practices, and strengthening good governance in the health sector.
