Prince Mahidol Award Conference Side Meeting
In recent years, a growing number of countries have been committing to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC), whereby all people receive the health services they need of good quality, without risk of financial hardship. UHC is also an agreed target in the Sustainable Development Goals, with the potential to tie together the other health targets and facilitate a more integrated and harmonised approach to implementation. Efforts are underway to improve monitoring of progress towards UHC at global and country levels, and the time is ripe to seize opportunities to strengthen multi-stakeholder mechanisms for accountability for progress towards UHC.
A group of development partners have been working together to explore potential options to advance accountability for UHC, building on and complementing existing initiatives. A public consultation on this agenda has been launched, with a background options paper prepared by MSH. PMAC presents a timely opportunity to conduct a consultative meeting to solicit feedback from interested stakeholders on an accountability framework for UHC.
This consultative meeting is part of a wider consultation on an accountability framework for UHC, which will inform the development of a concept note for submission to the Healthy Systems-Healthy Lives roadmap consultation and for implementation.
