MSH Welcomes Confirmation of Gayle Smith as USAID Administrator

MSH applauds the confirmation by the US Senate of Gayle Smith as the new USAID Administrator to succeed Rajiv Shah. Since 2009, Ms. Smith has served as special assistant to the president and senior director for development and democracy on the National Security Council staff. She coordinated the Administration's critical initiatives to advance development and global health, including the Global Health Security Agenda, Feed the Future, and others. Ms. Smith is committed to bringing development on par with diplomacy and defense as part of the Administration's three-pronged toolkit for foreign policy.

For over 40 years, MSH has partnered with USAID on global health projects. We look forward to collaborating with Ms. Smith on our mutual commitment to saving lives and improving health of the world's poorest and most vulnerable populations.
