Strengthening Health Systems in Fragile States

The greatest development challenges of the 21st century are found in fragile states, nations frequently stressed by civil unrest, natural disasters, or war. For 40 years, Management Sciences for Health (MSH) has helped build resilience in fragile states by improving access to and the quality of key health services, including family planning, maternal and child health, immunizations, and child nutrition services at facilities and in communities.

The myriad factors that perpetuate fragility require practical, unique solutions tailored to each country’s complex realities. MSH interventions address significant concerns that occupy the space between relief and development. We are currently managing 68 projects in 23 fragile states as diverse as Afghanistan, Haiti, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
