MSH's Dr. Negussu Mekonnen Receives Award for Role in ICASA Success

 In an official ceremony organized on February 19, at the Millennium Hotel in Addis Ababa by the Ethiopian Ministry of Health, Federal HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Office, Ethiopia (FHAPCO) and International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA), the Minister of Health Dr. Tedros Adhanom honored several organizations and individuals for their contribution to the success of the 2011 ICASA Conference.  

MSH Representative, Dr. Negussu Mekonnen, was singled out as one of the 12 Gold Medal recipients recognized by the Government of Ethiopia for their outstanding contribution.  
 
The Conference which took place in Addis Ababa last December was attended by 10000 participants from 103 countries. It was organized by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with development partners, the private sectors and other individuals.
 
The American Ambassador Donald E. Booth, who attended the ceremony, congratulated the Government of Ethiopia for what he considers the best ICASA meeting so far.
&;The Minister of Health handed out certificates of appreciation to several organizations, as well as 50 bronze, 59 silver and 12 gold medals to individuals for their contribution.
