Universal Health Coverage Day to be Launched on December 12

On September 22, 2014, Management Sciences for Health (MSH) joined 60 other organizations to launch the first-ever Universal Health Coverage Day, which will take place on December 12, 2014. The global coalition will call for universal health coverage to be a cornerstone of the sustainable development agenda and a priority for all nations.

Two years ago on December 12, the United Nations unanimously endorsed a resolution urging governments to ensure universal access to health care without financial hardship. The landmark commitment affirmed the right of every person to have the opportunity for the highest standard of health; the responsibility of governments to urgently scale up universal access; and the promise of health for all to create a fairer, more resilient society.

Spearheaded by The Rockefeller Foundation, the global show of solidarity on December 12 will encourage civil society organizations from all corners of the globe, including MSH, to display a prominent sign of support for Universal Health Coverage Day.

Health for all is an attainable goal. To learn more and to sign up your organization, please visit www.UniversalHealthCoverageDay.org or follow Universal Health Coverage Day on Facebook and Twitter.
