MSH Welcomes New Members of its Board of Directors
January 4, 2013 - Management Sciences for Health (MSH), a nonprofit global health organization working to save lives and improve health by strengthening health systems in over 40 countries, welcomes four new members to its Board of Directors. The new members bring wide-ranging experience in fields including nonprofit consulting and management; philanthropy for international development; investment management; state and federal health policy; and health plan management. "The new board members are highly accomplished in diverse fields related to global health and health systems," said Jonathan Quick, MD, MPH, President and CEO of MSH. "Their skills and knowledge will help guide our vision toward a world where everyone has the opportunity for a healthy life."
James M. Stone remains the Board Chair. The new board members are:
- Gail DeNicola, the Northeast Division Vice President for the American Red Cross. She previously ran a consulting firm and held senior positions at Regions Financial Corporation and Fidelity Investments and has taught at Cambridge College.
- Paula Doherty Johnson, Vice President at The Philanthropic Initiative and Director at the Center for Global Philanthropy. She has worked for 25 years at the intersection of global philanthropy and international development, involved in extensive research and analysis, strategic advising and project management in these fields.
- Robert Pozen, a Senior Lecturer at Harvard Business School and a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution. He was President of Fidelity Management & Research and previously the general counsel of Fidelity Investments. Among his other positions, he was the Massachusetts Secretary of Economic Affairs and a member of President Bush's Commission to Strengthen Social Security.
- James Roosevelt, the President and CEO of Tufts Health Plan. He is chairman of the board of directors for the Massachusetts Association of Health Plans and a member of the board of directors at America's Health Insurance Plans, among other organizations for healthcare quality, policy and administration. Mr. Roosevelt, a grandson of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, is active in politics as co-chair of the Rules and By-laws Committee of the Democratic National Committee.
MSH's board of directors works with the leadership team to harness and leverage MSH's global resources for the purpose of having the greatest health impact.
