Co-hosted by the Bill & Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Ministry of Health and Prevention in Senegal, the second International Conference on Family Planning: Research and Best Practices "will bring together participants to share research, best practices, and progress on national strategies to deliver family planning services, with the ultimate goal being universal access to family planning," according to the conference website. This year's conference will be held from November 29 through December 2 in Dakar, Senegal.

MSH Panel and Reception: Global Family Planning: What Comes Next?

Every minute a woman dies from complications from childbirth or pregnancy, and almost all of these deaths occur in developing countries. Motherless newborns are up to 10 times more likely to die than others. Nearly one-third of the women in the world's poorest countries lack access to modern family planning methods.

For 40 years, MSH has been a leader in family planning and reproductive health. How do family planning experts, such as MSH, encourage an awareness of the health and socioeconomic benefits of family planning and reproductive health, and reposition family planning as a core activity on the global health agenda for the coming decade?

On November 30, join Dr. Issakha Diallo, Project Director of AWARE II – MSH Ghana; Dr. Hedayetullah Mushfiq, Program Manager Tech-Serve – MSH Afghanistan; Dr. Halida Akhter, Deputy Project Director and Senior Technical Advisor, E2A; Jill Sheffield, President, Women Deliver; and Faustin Yao, Regional Director, UNFPA for a lively discussion about the future of global family planning.

Where: Room C12, Le Meridien President – Dakar, Senegal

When: Wednesday November 30, 2011 from 6:00 PM -9:00 PM GMT
