Global Technical Leader Dr. Fred Hartman Highlights Disease Control in Afghanistan

CAMBRIDGE, MA (NOVEMBER 26, 2008) — Voice of America News recently interviewed Dr. Fred Hartman of Management Sciences for Health (MSH) about the increase of disease control across Central Asia, specifically Afghanistan. Dr. Hartman, the Global Technical Lead of Communicable Disease and Epidemic Preparedness, says that despite the vulnerability of countries experiencing civil conflict, the cooperation between national governments, ministries of health, and organizations like MSH have greatly limited outbreaks of potential devastating epidemics, such as HIV, tuberculosis, and especially avian influenza.
